A MESSAGE FROM JALEO DISNEY SPRINGS® – March 16, 2020
In response to the increasing risk of coronavirus, Jaleo at Disney Springs decided to temporarily close following dinner service on Sunday night. The restaurant’s food will be donated to employees, and all employees will continue to receive pay and current health benefits for at least two weeks. We are grateful to all of our friends and family in the Disney community for continuing to support us in these difficult times and encourage everyone to follow the best practices outlined by health officials.
A MESSAGE FROM JALEO LAS VEGAS – March 16, 2020
In response to the increasing risk of COVID-19, we made the difficult decision to temporarily close Jaleo Las Vegas after last night’s dinner service. The restaurants’ food will be donated to employees. We’re grateful to all of our friends and family at The Cosmopolitan of Las Vegas and the broader community for their continued support. We look forward to welcoming guests back in the future and in the meantime encourage everyone to follow best practices outlined by health officials to help stop the spread of coronavirus.
A MESSAGE FROM JOSÉ ANDRÉS – March 15, 2020
Dear Friends & Family:
In response to the increasing risk of the COVID-19 coronavirus and to help encourage social distancing to stop its spread, we have made the difficult decision to temporarily close all of our restaurants in the Washington, D.C., area and New York City as of today, March 15. We will repurpose most of them as “community kitchens” with affordable plates of the day available for takeout purchase.
As you know, we are in a serious global emergency and every one of us needs to take every precaution, including staying home as much as possible. However, we as a restaurant company also want to help provide food for those who want it in a safe manner. We feel these community kitchens can help during this challenging time, and those who cannot afford to pay we will welcome as well.
The community kitchens will operate out of the restaurants’ side doors with a limited number of our current staff who are volunteering from 12 – 4 pm daily beginning Tuesday, March 17, offering only takeout service. All restaurant employees will be provided with paid leave and current health benefits for at least the first two weeks.
The following restaurants will close as of today, March 15. Those reopening on March 17 as community kitchens are identified with additional information.
New York City
Mercado Little Spain, Hudson Yards, New York: Little Spain’s Spanish Diner will operate a community kitchen from the glass garage doors. The rest of the mercado will remain closed.
Washington DC Metropolitan Area
America Eats Tavern, Georgetown: A community kitchen will operate from the front door.
China Chilcano, Penn Quarter: Due to the lack of outdoor space at the restaurant, a community kitchen will not be available.
Jaleo, Bethesda: A community kitchen will operate from the side door.
Jaleo, Crystal City: A community kitchen will operate from the side door.
Jaleo, Penn Quarter: A community kitchen will operate from the side door.
minibar and barmini, Penn Quarter: The restaurant and bar both closed following the end of service on March 14. A community kitchen will not be available. Guests with existing reservations will be contacted to rebook, and deposits will be refunded.
Oyamel, Penn Quarter: We are consolidating our Community Kitchens - this location is now closed.
Zaytinya, Penn Quarter: A community kitchen will operate from the side door.
Beefsteak, Dupont, Foggy Bottom & Montgomery Mall: Our D.C.-area fast-casual locations will offer delivery only, available via our website.
We will continue to keep you posted as we evolve our offerings to meet the needs of our community as well as to take best care of our employees. If you have an upcoming reservation at one of our restaurants, our restaurant teams will be in touch to reschedule, or feel free to contact the restaurant directly.
Thank you for your understanding and be safe, friends!
